Noah and I love a good date night.  We adore our two kiddos, but also love supporting our local babysitters 😉  We have been talking a lot about ways to connect to our community, and give back as well!  Community service has always been an important part of our lives, but the last couple of years have seemed extra busy, and we haven’t prioritized it the way we should.

It’s that time of year that we are feeling extra grateful for our family, friends, church, and community.  This sense of gratitude and joy also always reminds us of those who are struggling and need the support of their community.  So, during December, we (including some friends/team members and family) will be paying it forward.

  1. 12/1 Salvation Army Angel Tree.  We will be giving the babysitters the night off and taking the kids with us to select Angels from the Salvation Army Christmas Tree.  Then we will brave the mall and hopefully teach our wee ones a little bit about the spirit of giving.
  2. 12/17 Night Light Tulsa.  I have heard again and again how wonderful this program is that offers various services to the homeless and inner city community of Tulsa.  We will be collecting warm items to help them get ready for this cold weather, feel free to drop donations by our office!  We will also be going over oral health care with the folks there, and giving them some home care kits to help keep their teeth healthy. Here is more information: http://www.nightlighttulsa.org/ about
  3. 12/19 Refugee Christmas Party and Christmas Food Baskets.  Catholic Charities organizes a Christmas party to bring some necessities, cheer, and joy to refugee families in our area.  You can help in the preparations, or volunteer at the party itself!  We will be helping with preparations and the party!  Kids are welcome to help you pass out Christmas Baskets through Catholic Charities as well.

I’ll be updating the blog with my experiences of service this holiday season.  If you have more ideas of ways we can serve the community, please let me know!  We would love to see our friends at any of these events!
