Each and every patient I see is unique.  They have their own story, their own reason for being in my office, their own challenges, and their own abilities and talents.

Some patients have special needs that leave them or their parents wondering if orthodontic treatment is an option for them.  Whether it is sensory issues, Down Syndrome, physical limitations, anxiety, or any  number of conditions that can affect one physically or mentally, orthodontic treatment may seem daunting.  Braces can make it more difficult to clean, or maybe you’re worried about the gooey impression being too much for a sensitive child (or adult for that matter, not many people love those!)

Whatever the concern is, I hope that every person and parent knows that if they want, or feel like they need orthodontic care, we will do everything we can to make it possible. Gooey impressions sound awful or straight up impossible for your child that has difficulty with strange textures?  We invested in an iTero scanner that eliminates the need for those impressions.  It is a wand with a camera that builds a 3D image of your mouth.  Learn more about the scanner here.

For a lot of patients, an orthodontist’s office is a totally new experience and may be overwhelming.  By letting us know ahead of time, we build extra time into our appointments, and take extra time to make sure we move slowly and implement “tell-show-do.”  We will explain what we are going to do, then we show them, and then we perform it once they feel ready and comfortable.  For some patients, this may mean a couple visits to the office.  We try to make it as fun and pleasant as possible to help build trust and keep it a positive experience.  Sometimes this may mean that we don’t accomplish everything in an appointment that we hoped to, but that’s okay.  At the end of the day, the best result is the result that we can achieve while helping the patient have a positive experience.

We modify our treatment to fit that patient’s specific needs and comfort level. Our office has quiet, comfortable rooms, and each member of our team is committed to giving each patient the best care.  We love creating beautiful smiles with braces and invisalign, but we want to go a step further and provide a fun, supportive environment that gives them many more smiles.
