The Cost of Braces

How much should braces cost?

The cost for braces is dependent on a number of factors, including location, how long your child will be needing braces, which type of braces you choose, dental insurance, the orthodontist and other materials or procedures, such as extracting teeth, that may be necessary for ensuring complete care.

Early intervention (Phase I Orthodontics), varies widely on cost depending on the amount of intervention needed.  Some kids require only a single, simple appliance with minimal follow-up and others require a longer term early intervention plan.

Traditional braces can be metal or ceramic (tooth colored).  Some patients like to keep them as invisible as possible, while others love the bright and fun color options they can change at each visit.  At Carter & Higgins Orthodontics, the cost of treatment with traditional braces (this is the cost of orthodontic treatment from start to finish: applying the braces, all adjustments, retainers, and a little teeth whitening towards the end, but does not include things like your regular cleanings, fillings, extractions, or other procedures done by other doctors)  depends on the complexity and severity of the case.  At your free initial consultation, we will be able to provide you with an exact cost, as well as review payment options.  Right now, most insurance plans cover between $1000-$2000 of the cost of orthodontic treatment.

Invisalign can be used for many cases and typically costs a little more than traditional braces.  (About $20 more per month for patients that are on a 2 year payment plan.)

For very minor cases, or for those who lost their retainers and have had a little relapse, there may be other, less expensive options.  Dr. Carter can discuss all of your options for treatment depending on your goals.

Can I get a payment plan?

Carter & Higgins Orthodontics offers monthly payment plans for patients, making the cost for braces manageable and affordable.

At our office, we will work with you to help determine which down payment and interest-free monthly plan work the best for you.  Typically, payment plans are spread out over the course of 1.5- 2.5 years, depending on the estimated length of treatment time.

Now that you have an idea of what braces for your child will cost, it is important to talk with your orthodontist to get exact numbers for their services and check to see what your insurance plan can offer. At Carter & Higgins Orthodontics, we provide free consultations, so don’t hesitate to call if you’d like to set up a time to meet!
